Psychoanalysis & Psychotherapy
I offer psychoanalysis and psychotherapy for individuals and couples, providing a confidential space to explore the experiences, relationships and patterns that shape your life.
My approach is grounded in psychoanalytic thinking, with particular attention to the unconscious dynamics that influence how we experience ourselves, others and the world around us. Rather than focusing only on the management of symptoms, therapy can provide an opportunity to explore what lies beneath recurring difficulties and develop a deeper understanding of yourself.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You may be experiencing anxiety, relationship difficulties, a significant life transition, a sense of being stuck, or psychological difficulties that have persisted despite previous attempts to address them. Others may feel that something in their life is not quite working and want to understand why.
I work with each person’s experience as unique. Together, we can explore the questions, conflicts and patterns that emerge in the therapeutic relationship, creating the possibility for greater self-understanding and meaningful change.
Clinical Supervision & Leadership Development
I also provide clinical supervision and leadership development for mental health professionals seeking to deepen their clinical practice, develop their professional identity, or strengthen their leadership.
My experience across clinical practice, mental health leadership, clinical governance and policy provides a perspective that connects therapeutic work with the professional, organisational and systemic realities of contemporary mental health care.
About John
I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker, psychoanalyst and psychotherapist with more than two decades of experience across clinical practice, mental health leadership and policy reform.
Throughout my career, I have worked both directly with people experiencing psychological difficulties and at a senior level within the mental health system. This has given me an appreciation of both the deeply personal nature of therapeutic work and the broader professional, organisational and social contexts in which mental health care takes place.
Professional Qualifications & Training
My practice is informed by psychoanalytic theory, extensive clinical experience and ongoing professional development. I aim to bring intellectual depth and clinical rigour to the work while remaining attentive to each person’s particular experience.
